The locations and characters are the same, but the dialog has been significantly shrunk to fit on the cartridge. This is a minus for true Lunar fans, since much of the story is lost. However, even with "Lunar Lite," you get a very satisfying game. p The game play is standard RPG fare: You walk around, randomly attack monsters, explore dungeons, and talk to villagers in various towns for quests and clues. The battle system, like most RPGs, is turn-based, and has some nice additions like the "Arts Gage" system, which allows special attacks after your character makes enough attacks during a battle. Lastly, you can collect cards throughout the game, and trade them with friends via link cable or sell them in various shops. Strangely, that's all you can do with them. It would have been nice if there was a mini card game of some kind. p The graphics in ILunar Legend/Iare spectacular--on par with IGolden Sun/I. The sound is top notch too, though the Luna's singing can get a little tiresome.p If you're looking for an easy RPG experience, or would like to relive part of the classic Lunar Series, give Lunar Legend a shot. Before Jimmy can do that, however, he must find all the parts of a spaceship so he can embark on his quest. At his disposal are a wide variety of gadgets, including lasers, goo guns, jetpacks, rockets, and grappling guns. The game features 24 levels that take place in locations such as Retroville, a meteor field, and the Yokian Empire. Perhaps the strongest part of the game is its multiplayer mode, which supports up to four players via link cable. In this mode, players compete to collect the most coins while slowing the opposition with goo darts. p The single-player game incorporates basic platform elements. Players spend most of the time running, jumping, and collecting objects. It's hardly innovative, but it works for a younger audience. The four racing levels also add some variety. Extremely young gamers may need an adult handy to deal with the game's heavy text and poor save system; the latter uses long passwords to track a player's progress. All in all, this is a good game for fans of the series. It features strong graphics and plenty of the film's flavor. Adept players will breeze through the single-player game, although the multiplayer mode provides a fair amount of replay value. I--Raymond M.
